The Education Committee facilitates networking, communication and planning among educational institutions and employers to develop more talent in our local workforce. Committee members include business, nonprofit, and educational leaders who advocate for workforce readiness initiatives that benefit students from all backgrounds. Committee meetings offer a forum for supportive engagement between businesses and education service providers to align educational and economic development objectives focused on cross-sector collaboration for improved outcomes.
The Education Committee benefits Chamber Members by promoting the development of a stable, skilled and prepared local workforce, which is essential to economic vitality in the region and beyond.
CHOICES Through stay-in-school workshops, eighth grade students are encouraged to pursue education to reach career and life goals.
Cooperative Work Experience Education (COOP) Monterey Peninsula College’s initiative supports successful internship relationships with local employers.
Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) The annual conference on Science, Tech, Engineering, Math (STEM) is offered to girls in grades five through tenth.
Monterey County College Challenge (M3C) Fourth graders are introduced to community college and inspired to be “future college graduates.”
Monterey Bay Internships The newly launched online portal connects students with internship opportunities and employers with a pool of qualified candidates.
My Monterey Regional hospitality professionals’/employees’ emotional intelligence and local knowledge development program is partnered with CSU Monterey Bay.
PURSUIT Youth Expo Also partnered with CSUMB, this event is intended to inspire high school students.
