Description
Locally and internationally renowned Buddhist temple, Carmel Sambosa, invites the Monterey community to celebrate Buddha’s birthday with religious ceremony, music, lite food, and crafts. At 10:00am, Sunday May 20th, 2018, Carmel Sambosa, the first Korean Buddhist temple in the US, opens its celebration with traditional religious ceremonies, flower offerings and chanting led by head Abbot Dae Man Sunim. The celebration continues with music from Panther Percussion (African Djembe group), Vincent Randazzo, and Elise rotchfard, lite vegetarian food will be served. The community is invited to walk the temple grounds where a new meditation center will be built, replacing the one burned down over 40 years ago. The afternoon will be dedicated to the arts with lantern craft making. In a Buddhist tradition, people of all ages, ethnic and religious backgrounds are welcomed. Buddha’s birthday is a day of joy, love, and celebration. Detailed program is available online at carmelsambosa.org. Carmel Sambosa remains open to the community, especially to those in search of connecting back to their true nature by walking a path of meditation.
