    Job Description
    “Art is not what you see but what you make others see.” Dali17 is the first West Coast permanent exhibition of the surrealist artist, Salvador Dali and features 580 lithographs, etchings, tapestries and sculptures. Monterey was the only place outside of Spain where Salvador Dali lived and painted in the early 1940's and features photographs from his party A Surrealistic Night in an Enchanted Forest. Dali17 is located at the Museum of Monterey, 5 Custom House Plaza. Learn more about the museum at www.Dali17.com. Docents conduct guided tours of the Museum for groups of students and adults. Utilizing the techniques of dialogue and story telling, the docent encourages guests to learn more about the local history, the life and work of Salvador Dali and explore works within the collection. Docent Training will be broken into three, 2 hour sessions, and will accomplish the following: - Understand the philosophy of community and public engagement through gallery tours. - Understand what it means to be a docent - Knowledge of the Collection, Salvador Dali and the print making process - Implement a Docent tour One year commitment required.
