    What we're looking for.
    We are looking for an outgoing Membership Development Representative who is energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated. This is a great opportunity for an experienced sales pro with outstanding initiative to be a part of a team that will assist in growing our community’s future prosperity.
    What you’ll do.
    • Develop and maintain a firm customer base to achieve sales budgets and goals.
    • Maximize the amount of sales for existing market areas, which requires developing relationships with existing and potential members through personal and telephone contact and answering questions.
    • Provide members with knowledgeable, courteous, prompt and personal service to ensure they are satisfied with services and benefits provided after joining the Chamber.
    • Present accurate sales proposals to prospective members.
    ·      Research local market information for potential new geographic and untapped customer markets, making exploratory contacts to increase the potential for sales.
    • Identify potential members through contacts developed by association with existing members, trade organizations, publications, and the Member Development Manager.
    ·      Coordinate all paper flow with support personnel.
    ·      Solicit new business while maintaining your recruited member account base.
    • Organize time and develop methods to contact each new member quarterly.
    ·      Seek opportunities to engage members and invite member participation where appropriate.
    • Performs job off-site at business locations in the community eighty percent (80%) or more of the time.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement; identify and respond actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all members; participate as a team player in all phases of the organization; and be open and responsive to change.
    • Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.
    • Event support at mixers, ribbon cuttings and special events.
    What you bring.
    • High school diploma or equivalent (A.A. degree preferred). Minimum of two years sales experience.
    • Knowledge of general business practices and professional sales methods.
    • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members of the business community.
    • Ability to effectively present information in small or large groups, to senior management and to other prospective members.
    • Basic Finance, ability to calculate figures and amounts such as membership investment fees, administration fees and voluntary dues contributions.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
    • Well organized, self-starter who possesses excellent telephone communication skills.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
    • Even temper and team spirit – a good sense of humor is desirable.
    • Ability to quickly learn specific software.
    • Ability to make sound independent decisions based on available data.
    • Ability to work with a variety of personalities in an effective manner.
    • Have a valid class “C” California Driver’s License, valid auto insurance coverage and acceptable driving record.
