Business Roundtable is now meeting Bi-weekly. In lieu of today's Business Roundtable, we invite you to attend the Board of Supervisors meeting at 10:30 am.



On Tuesday, April 20 at 10:30 am, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors will meet and - after ceremonial resolutions - consider a law that would require restaurants and hotels to rehire the specific workers they laid off as a result of coronavirus public health orders.
 
The Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, along with many other business groups in Monterey County, oppose this proposed “Right to Recall” ordinance.
 
It is the government telling businesses whom they should hire and a dangerous precedent for expanding into other industries. It also overrides existing union bargaining agreements. Also, it is unnecessary because restaurants and hotels are having difficulty finding enough workers.
 
How do you tell the Board of Supervisors that you oppose this proposed ordinance?
 
1. Attend in person and speaking during public comment. Wear a mask and practice social distancing.
 
2. Email your comment to cob@co.monterey.ca.us by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 19. In the subject line, write “Board of Supervisors Agenda Item #24 - OPPOSE.”
 
3. If you are watching the live stream of the Board meeting, you may email your comment to publiccomment@co.monterey.ca.us while Item 24 is discussed at the meeting. In the subject line, write “Board of Supervisors Agenda Item #24 - OPPOSE.”
 
4. Participate in the meeting via Zoom and raise your electronic hand when the meeting chair says it’s time for public comments: https://montereycty.zoom.us/j/224397747
 
5. Call +1 669 900 6833, enter Meeting ID number: 224397747, and hit # again after the recording prompts you. You will be placed in the meeting as an attendee; when the meeting chair says it’s time for public comments, if joined by computer audio raise your electronic hand; if by phone push *9.
