Response to immediate threat:

  1. City of Monterey. TED Conference preparations in progress, operating out of satellite office on Alvarado, 500 attendees anticipated.  PMA Foodservice conference last week had attendance of approx. 1300, supporting our local hotels and businesses. Library re-opening today: Tues-Sat from 10-6pm utilizing funds from American Rescue Act in March. Sports Center open 7 days a week.  August 17th – evening City Council session to discuss commercial cannabis based on discussion held during first session in May.  Considering locations near Lighthouse and Cannery Row. City of Monterey hosting vaccination sites extends offer to support any business seeking to vaccinate employees. www.tedmonterey2021.ted.com
  2. General Conversation. Mike DiGiulio-Monterey Bay FC: Expressed commitment to area and working with local founding partners: Montage Health, Monterey Marriott and area vendors.  Building an organization founded on community centered principals.  Recently revealed crest “Greatest Union of Land and Sea.”  Hoping to see “destruction” begin on September 1 for renovation of stadium.  
  3. Financial, SBA, Loans & Grants. Banks still processing PPP applications; see attached. If you have not applied for forgiveness the time to do so is now. Preferable with lender but if not, SBA has direct platform.  Wind down on forgiveness for second round PPP-served purpose in helping restaurants and other small businesses.  CA Relief Fund Grant closed, Shuttered Venue awarded 16.2 billion in grants to venues. US Small Business awarded 10k grants, significantly higher than in June. See more here.
  4. Hospitality. Aquarium: Continue with online-reserved ticket system.  Busy, with occasional tense situations. Masks required regardless of vaccination status if over 3 years old.  Aug 3 crane will disrupt foot traffic near the American Tin Cannery recreation trail.
  5. Construction. Disruption in supply chain continues to prove significant challenge. Impact on jobs in various ways with higher prices.
  6. Transportation. Major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, July 25 through July 31. See full list here.
