2) Economic recovery when the threat diminishes.

Recap


  1. General Question. How are you prepared to face round 2?
  2. Hospitality & Tourism. Monterey County Fair 2020 is cancelled but will still plan on exhibits program, livestock auction and drive-through fair food experience. MCHA is promoting the need for one unified message, after increased number of positive cases in County. A sub-committee to meet today will formulate a possible op-ed to be sent to all local media.
  3. Retail. Downtown, shopping center and Cannery Row businesses are complying and following protocols. Some isolated push-back from visitors.
  4. City of Monterey. Facial Covering: Preparing emergency order on 7/1 to reduce $1,000 criminal infraction to $100 administrative violation. Code compliance officers will be going into City businesses and educate those who do not comply. City Manager issued an emergency order to allow outdoor dining and retail display (free but application needed). Contemplating closure of City beaches for July 4th weekend.
  5. State of California. Sacramento report. State will step in if Counties are inactive and will enforce SIP in several cases.
  6. Health Care. Current report. 1,605 positive case in County. CHOMP has 5 positives patients, the highest since outbreak. Montage has more credibility in messaging of compliance than business associations, politicians and law enforcement.
  7. Community Foundation. Small Business Relief Fund. Excellent reception of grants issued to small businesses in Monterey. Focus on additional funding to www.cfmco.org
  8. Financial, SBA, Loans & Grants. Today is deadline to apply for SBA PPP program. Portal is still open for EIDL and Monterey County revolving loan program. www.CalCoastalSBDC.com
  9. Non-Profit sector. Focus on “Racial Equity” and rental assistance.
  10. Education. Hartnell updates about construction sites on Salinas campus as well as Soledad and King City. Masks are strictly enforced.
  11. Legal. Face covering exception only with a valid medical certificate.
  12. Human Resources. Report attached with checklist for employers.
  13. Transportation. MST report. Drivers report passengers get on bus then take off masks. Services increasing. MST helps Meals on Wheels.

Economic Recovery
1. Training Center at Conference Center. In lieu of live training, webinars are produced.

NHEH Attorney Anne Secker Honored by Hartnell College Foundation at Virtual Fundraising Event

In January, the Foundation announced attorney Anne Secker as this year’s Leadership Award recipient. Each year the award recognizes an exceptional leader who has exhibited significant effort and leadership on behalf of the Foundation and the college, going above and beyond normal board or committee work. Ms. Secker has served as a member of the Foundation Board for 15 out of the last 30 years, including four as President of the Board and two as Vice President. She is currently Chair of the Planned Giving Committee.

According to Jackie Cruz, Hartnell College’s Vice President of Advancement and Development and Executive Director of the Hartnell College Foundation, “Anne’s leadership and commitment to the mission of Hartnell College has made an enormous difference for thousands of students. The work that Anne led during two tenures as Vice President and President of the Foundation Board, resulted in doubling the scholarships awarded to students annually, growing support for important programs such agriculture, nursing, STEM and the Arts at Hartnell College. Her relentless and noble efforts to launch Hartnell’s Legacy Society will continue to bring critical resources to champion the education of thousands of local students. Anne, we admire you and we are deeply grateful to you for all that you do for the Citizenry of the Salinas Valley”. 

In addition to her service to the Hartnell College Foundation, Ms. Secker is on the Elkhorn Slough Foundation’s Finance & Investment Committee, and the City of Salinas Grievance Board.  She was formerly on the Boards of the Elkhorn Slough Foundation, Monterey County Historical Resources Review Board, Ag Against Hunger and the Community Housing Improvement Systems and Planning Association (CHISPA) and on the Planned Giving Advisory Committee for CSUMB. She received the Lady Justice Lifetime Achievement Award for Legal Advocacy and Community Service from the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association in 2018.
