UPDATE: Monterey County Suspends Indoor Mask Requirement

As of Tuesday evening, in a 3-2 vote, Monterey County supervisors voted to suspend the indoor mask mandate, which went into effect on Nov. 5.

Nearly all supervisors stood by their original vote, except Supervisor Mary Adams— who voted in favor of suspending the mandate and looking at local numbers to make decisions instead of data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On Dec. 8, supervisors plan to revisit the mask mandate with Monterey County Health Officer Dr. Edward Moreno in addition to considering switching to local data for use as a trigger for requiring masks.
