  1. County of Monterey. Kickoff Event for Building Business Back - 11:00 AM today, Chamber is one of host locations. Learn how the new “Building Business Back” program helps businesses in Monterey County to recover from the pandemic.   2. Health Care. Montage - 2 patients currently in CHOMP, accounts for all patients in county. New variant is circulating but seen as less of a risk for hospitalization Monterey County Health Needs Collaborative: Six organizations are teaming up to address the major health needs of residents of the Monterey Bay and Salinas Valley regions. The newly formed Monterey County Health Needs Collaborative is a partnership between Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, Mee Memorial Healthcare System, Natividad, the Monterey County Health Department, and United Way Monterey County. The Collaborative was formed to more effectively identify, address, and improve the health and well-being of the local community.   3. AIM’s 2022 Scientific Symposium: Care in the Crisis. Join us for our 2nd annual AIM Youth Mental Health Scientific Symposium on April 29, 2022 at the Sunset Center in Carmel. Hear from the experts, world-renowned researchers, and the youth themselves about promising solutions to the youth mental health emergency. Purchase tickets here.   4. Hospitality & Tourism. WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Had 10,000 for 3-day weekend at Trans Am Championship. Round 4 Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship coming up Friday.
  5. MCCVB. Spring Break brought in good numbers for our local hotels. For two weeks, occupancy surpassed 2019 numbers for the first time. Average daily rate (ADR) remains at about 40% over 2019. Local events are starting to make a comeback including Good Ol’ Days, Monterey Beer Festival and Festa Italia. If you’d like a copy of the Annual Marquee Event Calendar or would like to post your event on SeeMonterey.com, please email: info@seemonterey.com.
  6. Government Affairs Update. The City of Monterey continues to ask the State Water Resources Control Board for relief from the Cease and Desist Order so it can get a water allocation for affordable housing. 
  7. Earth Day. Downtown cleanup - 100 pounds of trash, 20 pounds of recyclable material. Blue Zones Project - Monterey County has recognized Elroy's Fine Foods (MPCC member) as its Peninsula Cities FIRST Blue Zones Project (BZP) approved grocery store.
  8. Financial, SBA, Loans, Grants. Workforce Development Board administering $2500 microgrant is still available for application - very small businesses. Learn more and apply here.
