Population Change in Monterey County - It’s Generally Going Down

The California Department of Finance announced its annual population estimates yesterday ((May 2, 2022) for counties, cities, and the state. For the second year in a row, the population of California declined. However the decline has slowed. It went down 0.3 percent between January 1, 2021 and January 1, 2022, while it went down 0.59 percent between April 1, 2021 (the date of the U.S. Census) and December 31, 2021.
