The Chamber's Business Excellence Awards (BEA) Dinner increases public awareness of the vital role business plays on the Central Coast, and gives recognition to those businesses that have achieved excellence in their fields. 300-plus Peninsula business and community leaders attend to show their support for the local businesses that make up the backbone of our community. 1,500-plus votes are cast by Chamber members as well as the general public, and awards are presented to the top businesses in 16 categories.

Leadership Monterey County is a ten-month program designed to educate local leaders from different industries and to bring awareness and advocacy to the significant economic impacts within Monterey County. Many MPCC Members and their employees participate in this program year over year.

So far, the 2022 LMC Cohort has met with leaders in Monterey County's Hospitality, Education, Agriculture, Government & Law industries. This year's program facilitator, Mitchell Friedman, has re-caped both Education and Agriculture day in the Salinas Business Journal:

Resources Available to Help Customers Get a Head Start on Managing Summer Energy Bills

Summer’s warm weather is coming, and Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) customers can benefit by participating in a variety of programs to prepare for the inevitable increase in air conditioning usage associated with hotter weather that typically drives up summer energy costs.

To prepare eligible customers are encouraged to take advantage of income-qualified assistance programs including:



Customers who are not eligible for income-qualifying programs can sign up for the following programs to help manage energy costs:  

  • Medical Baseline provides a lower monthly rate for customers with special energy needs due to certain medical conditions.
 
  • Budget Billing averages out energy costs for more predictable monthly payments and eliminates big spikes in bills due to seasonal changes.
 
  • Bill Forecast Alerts are notifications sent by email, text or phone notifying the customer if their monthly bill is expected to exceed a specific amount set by the customer.
