Recap

1. Non-Profit. Staci Alziebler-Perkins - Executive Director, Gathering for Women provides services for the unique needs of homeless women. Half are over 50, oldest is 83. Partner with public and private organizations. Funding mostly from individual donors, some government grants. Want to expand wellness programs. How can you help as a Chamber Member?  Volunteer. Donate. Attend the November Community Breakfast. These are not necessarily people who are addicted and/or mentally ill, just in difficult circumstances.
2. Healthcare. Montage Health. COVID down, 6 patients in house today, emergency room has been busy. Flu shots encouraged, can be taken with Covid booster but “yes, if” scenario. Ohana Center for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health - programs continue to be crushingly busy. Building under construction, on-budget, fairly close to being on time, but some delays due to material/supply chain shortages. Since opening, have seen over 15,000 patients with 70% of kids from areas outside of Peninsula and throughout Monterey County. Seeing many uninsured patients and goal is to hire 125 people additional next year to staff new facility
3. Hospitality & Tourism. The Monterey Conference Center has seen the strongest month since closure due to pandemic in March 2020. The 20th Annual Leadership Luncheon was held on September 26th at the Monterey Conference Center and was a great event.
4. Real Estate. Market remains unpredictable, seeing less multiple offers, but still seeing overbidding in higher end markets. Inventory is decreasing and interest rates rising. 2023 may reveal true market.
5. Financial, SBA, Loans & Grants. - Interest rates up in commercial sector too. Floating rate loans set on prime are up 
6. MPCC. 20th Annual Leadership Luncheon presented by Aera Energy was held yesterday.  In attendance were Congressman Panetta, Senator Laird, all five supervisors and Mayors or representatives from all Peninsula cities, Salinas, and the Airport Board. State Sen. John Laird Op-Ed: Clock is ticking on our water problem and response from Chamber & Coalition of Peninsula Businesses. Quarterly Business Insights Breakfast: Register Now.

Panelists discussed affordable workforce housing and available water supply - issues that are important to all Monterey County residents and business owners right now. MPCC is proud to host public policy forums, such as the Leadership Luncheon, for its members and community leaders to keep them informed of issues of importance to the business community.
