Chamber of Commerce Interviewing Candidates for Monterey County Board of Supervisors, District 5 (Monterey Peninsula/Carmel Valley/Big Sur Coast)

On December 14 and 15, your Chamber’s Candidate Review Committee will be interviewing the three candidates for the open District 5 seat on the Monterey County Board of Supervisors. District 5 includes the cities of Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel, along with unincorporated areas of Monterey County that include the Big Sur coast and Carmel Valley. (See this link: District 5 Map.) Supervisor Mary Adams, who has represented the district for eight years (two terms of four years) is retiring.

Candidates are Kate Daniels, Alan Haffa, and Bill Lipe (no campaign website). They have been asked to fill out a short questionnaire about their background, reason for running for public office, and priorities if they end up serving in the office.

Over $100,000 in Arts & Cultural Grants Awarded to Local Nonprofits

The Arts Council for Monterey County (Arts4MC) is thrilled to announce they have awarded $109,000 in Arts & Cultural Impact Grants to 22 local arts organizations and nonprofit organizations with art programs thanks to the funding from the County of Monterey and the Board of Supervisors.

“I am happy to say that each organization that applied, was awarded a grant,” said Jacquie Atchison, Executive Director of Arts4MC, “We would love to see more organizations apply, particularly from groups who haven’t applied before.”

Arts & Cultural Impact Grants are available to nonprofit organizations seeking support for public arts and culture projects/programs. The next funding cycle will be open in the Spring and more information can be found at arts4mc.org/grants.
