What’s Happening with New Development in the City of Seaside?
Your Chamber’s Economic Vitality Committee received a presentation on
Friday, February 9 from Jose Bazua, Economic Development Director for the City of Seaside, explaining the city’s major proposed economic development projects.
Water supply issues are resolved for Ascent Broadway and groundbreaking is expected soon on this 106 unit mixed-use development. Design is evolving on the Grand Hyatt Hotel at Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Course, which will have 330 rooms and proposed 20,000 square foot conference center. Site demolition will soon begin as Phase 1A of Campus Town, which will ultimately end up as 1,485 residential units and hotels totaling 250 rooms. Earthwork begins soon for the new three-story Fort Ord Courthouse with seven Monterey County Superior Court courtrooms at the Main Gate site east of Highway 1 between Divarty Street and 2nd Avenue. (It will replace the current court facility at 1200 Aguajito Road in Monterey, which is not compliant with seismic standards.) Three new businesses are coming to Broadway Avenue in the West Broadway Urban Village Specific Plan area (Downtown). The Seaside Community Development Department wants business owners and developers to know that multiple properties in the Downtown area are available for purchase.
The City of Seaside Community Development Department has a new, prominent location at 1583 Del Monte Avenue. There will be an open house. In the meantime, call Jose Bazua at (831) 899-6831 or email him if you’re interested in economic development opportunities in the City of Seaside.
