Honoring Jim Tunney and His Legacy at MPC and Beyond

Like many others, the MPC community mourns the recent passing of Dr. Jim Tunney, a beloved educator, motivational speaker, NFL referee, and long-term MPC Trustee (1997-2009) who dedicated his life to inspiring excellence both on and off the field. Jim’s contributions to our community and his unwavering support for students and athletes will never be forgotten.

The Foundation, in conjunction with Jim's family and friends, established the Jim Tunney Scholar-Athlete Award Endowment Fund in 2010. This annual scholarship will continue to carry forth his remarkable legacy while supporting outstanding MPC student athletes who are transferring to pursue their education at a 4-year institution.

Through this scholarship, Jim's vision of fostering personal growth through sports and education lives on, continuing to shape the lives of future leaders in our community.
