Ribbon Cutting Recap: Rice & Roots

On Tuesday, May 13, we gathered to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of Rice & Roots, Monterey’s newest Vietnamese restaurant, located at 422 Tyler Street. Guests had the opportunity to learn more about owners Niki and Ty Nguyen’s passion for Vietnamese cuisine and culture while enjoying complimentary tastings from their thoughtfully crafted menu.

Rice & Roots offers a menu that blends traditional Vietnamese recipes with modern influences, reflecting Niki's culinary journey from her childhood kitchen in Vietnam to her new home in the United States. Signature dishes include savory pho, flavorful rice plates, and delicious bánh mì sandwiches, all crafted with fresh herbs and grilled meats that evoke the comforting aromas of family meals. The restaurant also features a variety of beverages, such as hot and iced teas, coffees, and boba drinks.
