KSBW 8 to Commemorate Anchor Dan Green's 30 Years of Trusted Storytelling on the Central Coast

KSBW Action News 8 anchor Dan Green, a trusted voice on the Central Coast for three decades, will be honored by the station Thursday, October 9, for his 30 years of bringing viewers important news coverage every day. The station will celebrate with a tribute video during the 6 p.m. newscast.

“Dan is incredibly passionate about local news and he’s remained that way for the entire thirty years,” said KSBW 8 News Director Cassady Velasco. “Through it all, he has been a steady, trusted presence, known for his clarity, integrity, and compassion. He is incredibly dedicated to the craft, and the man has done it all. He's done AM radio, he's been a news director... to have somebody with his journalistic background come in here and stay here for 30 years, it’s been incredible for the communities we serve.”

Green currently anchors KSBW Action News 8 at 5:00 p.m. and co-anchors the 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts alongside Erin Clark. His work has earned him multiple industry honors, including the Edward R. Murrow Award. His lighthearted “Animal Stories” segment has also become a favorite among Central Coast viewers, showcasing his approachable style and genuine connection with the community.

Beyond the newsroom, Green’s voice has championed countless local causes. His fundraising efforts have helped raise millions of dollars for Central Coast nonprofits, earning him the inaugural Community Impact Award from the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, presented by former U.S. Secretary of Defense and Monterey native Leon Panetta.

“For 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of telling your stories,” Green said. “To be a voice for our shared history is an honor. The trust this community has given me means everything. Through it all, the Central Coast has shaped not only my career but my life.”
