Catholic Charities Secures $1.5 Million to Expand Immigration Services on the Central Coast

Catholic Charities Diocese of Monterey has secured $1.5 million in new state funding to expand immigration legal services across Monterey County and the greater Central Coast. This investment, championed by Assemblymember Dawn Addis, will help address long-standing gaps in legal representation for immigrant families in Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo Counties. As many local families face increasing uncertainty, the funding will strengthen rapid-response services, protect vulnerable residents, and ensure more Central Coast community members receive fair and timely legal support.

For Monterey County and surrounding communities, this expansion represents a major step in safeguarding family stability and economic resilience. Immigrant residents are deeply woven into the region’s workforce, businesses, and cultural fabric. Strengthening access to legal services helps keep families together, supports safe and thriving neighborhoods, and ensures that long-time residents, many of whom are essential workers, can navigate urgent legal challenges with dignity and security.

For more than 40 years, Catholic Charities has served thousands of families across the Central Coast through food security, housing assistance, and immigration legal programs. This new state investment affirms the organization’s ongoing commitment to protecting the well-being of local families and expanding services at a time when the need is greater than ever.
