In mid-summer, our local governments usually cut back on their schedules and workload to accommodate the public's tendency to use this time for vacations and more relaxed schedules. It's a good time for your Chamber to provide you and the general public with additional context about our local economy.

Below is a table listing the top employers in Monterey County. Note that the list is not completely up-to-date, as government data collection and analysis lags a little behind the current situation.

In addition, below is a table that shows recent available data about the top property taxpayers in Monterey County. Note that assessed valuation of property does not necessarily reflect the market rate value for property.

These tables give you a general idea of which Monterey County businesses are hiring employees and which companies are paying for government services.

The Chamber's annual Business Excellence Awards (BEA) Dinner increases public awareness of the vital role business plays on the Central Coast and gives recognition to those businesses that have achieved excellence in their fields. 300-plus Peninsula business and community leaders attend to show their support for the local businesses that make up the backbone of our community. 2,000-plus votes are cast by Chamber members as well as the general public, and awards are presented to the top businesses in 16 categories.
