For more than four decades, CHISPA (Community Housing Improvement Systems and Planning Association, Inc.) has worked to create healthy, thriving neighborhoods by expanding access to quality affordable housing throughout the Central Coast. Founded in 1980, CHISPA is the largest private nonprofit housing developer based in Monterey County and has built or renovated more than 2,400 single-family homes and apartments for low- and moderate-income individuals and families across Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties.


CHISPA’s impact extends well beyond housing. Through partnerships with local organizations, residents have access to onsite educational, recreational, and community programs ranging from youth activities and summer camps to adult education and senior services. By combining affordable housing with resources that help individuals and families thrive, CHISPA continues its longstanding commitment to building stronger neighborhoods and improving lives throughout our region.
