A Monterey tradition for more than 80 years, La Sala’s Bi-Rite Market has been serving the community since the 1930s. What began as a full-service butcher shop and neighborhood market has been passed down through generations of the LaSala family, with John and Debbie LaSala now running the market alongside their daughters, Jenny Leigh and Gina Thomsen. Through the decades, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to hearty food, friendly hospitality, and making everyone who walks through the door feel like family.
Today, La Sala’s Bi-Rite is especially known for its deli and generous specialty sandwiches, carrying on a tradition that has made the market a longtime local favorite. From their popular BBQ Tri-Tip to the Deep-Fried Calamari Sandwich served every Friday with homemade tartar sauce, the menu blends longtime favorites with daily specials and plenty of local character. More than eight decades later, La Sala’s continues to offer the nostalgic, welcoming experience of a true neighborhood “Mom & Pop” market.
