Response to immediate threat
1. City of Monterey. See attached flyer re: information on outdoor heaters; Small Business Saturday and Buy Local campaign running through the end of the year.
2. Community Foundation for Monterey County. COVID initiative convening started on November 20; 80+ participants; task force aims at coordinating and communicating between groups throughout the County; goals: to align all efforts and identify possible gaps in service and strategies; next steps include writing the scope of work and pull task force together.
3. Hospitality & Tourism. Initiative between MCHA and MCCVB “Get Out and Get Tested” with media releases starting around Thanksgiving Day; free masks give-away was a success in the entire County.
4. Agriculture. Harvest is done and quieter time in ag; Farm Bureau supports the COVID initiative described above to improve our situation.
5. Retail. OMBA reports some business closures; simultaneously there are some new businesses opening their doors; restaurants are currently surviving on outdoor dining and takeout; Portola Hotel scheduled to open rooms on 12/16; 3rd party delivery charges to be discussed with MCHA next week.
6. State of California. Sacramento report. n/a
7. Health Care. Cases within County exceed 14,000 since the onset; CHOMP houses 13 patients now; vaccine: indications may show local availability in December/January depending on State guidelines.
8. Financial, SBA, Loans & Grants. PPP forgiveness is experienced by some in the banking sector; grants by Workforce Development Board were quickly exhausted.
